Applications are invited for the position of Accounting Assistant in the Finance Department at Sagicor General Insurance Inc.
Job Summary
To assist with the timely and accurate preparation of the payables for Sagicor General Insurance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Complete the processing of all Barbados Administrative Payments.
- Assist with the processing of the Barbados Claims and E.C. Claims and Administrative Payments as is necessary.
- Journalize and post entries to accounting program, SUN systems including reviewing General Ledger accounts, the preparation of Reconciliations and account listings for auditing purposes.
- Liaise with key suppliers and following up for Invoices. Liaise with management for the approval of Invoices.
- The processing of all online banking and wire transfers including payee set ups on the banks as well as the processing of the foreign exchange application forms. Liaise with banks on any outstanding queries.
- The processing of online credit card payments including statement downloads to be sent to managers for their approval.
- Release refund cheques from GIMS for Barbados and EC territories and online payment transfers of the same.
- Maintenance of AP Online Filing system for all Invoices paid including affixing payment confirmations from the bank and receipts and sharing confirmations.
- Participation in the timely preparation of the interim and year end audit along with providing support assistance with any other financial audit requests.
- Other related duties as may be assigned.
Knowledge & Skills Required
Education &/or Experience
- A first degree in Accounting / related discipline or final year of pursuing an Accounting degree / related discipline with a minimum of one-year experience in a similar or related environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Excellent analytical and investigative skills with strong attention to detail.
