INTRODUCTION:

Komatsu South Africa has an opportunity for an Accounting Manager: Group Operations (Machines/Units) to join the Finance Department. The successful candidate must be a highly motivated and experienced professional with a BCom Degree in Accounting, SAICA Articles, and a proven track record of at least 4 years in costing and reporting, complemented by a minimum of one year in a supervisory role.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bcom Degree with accounting or CIMA (essential)
  • Bcom Honours Degree preferable (an added advantage)
  • SAICA Articles (essential)

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 4 years related experience in accounting or related reporting.
  • 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Full scope of consolidated reporting.
  • SAP experience is essential.
  • Exposure to standard costing method of inventory reporting

 

SUMMARY OF JOB ROLE:

 

  • Lead and manage operational reporting for machines, ensuring alignment with strategic goals..

  • Use of IFRS reporting standards for compliance in applicable areas

  • Monthly and quarterly reporting data compilation, meeting deadlines to close off books on machine sales

  • Leads includes variance analysis and investigation between BP and actual figures

  • Plan and manage resource allocation, reporting deadlines (KLTD, audits, projects), and system testing schedules.

  • Fosters interdepartmental collaboration by liaising with cross-functional teams (e.g., Sales, Service, Warranty, Projects, and Audit) to ensure alignment on reporting requirements, cost allocations, and operational priorities.

  • Monitor and assess progress of operational plans, submitting tactical progress reports on cost, status, and implementation.

  • Oversee financial reporting related to inventory management, machines stock counts, machines obsolescence, advances (IFRS 15), Machines WIP costing, extended warranties, operational accruals and provisions, and royalty payments.

  • Respond to internal and external audit queries regarding financial transactions and reporting.

  • Understand operational contracts with customers for reporting purposes

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders on machine sales, cost of sales, provisions, and reporting inputs.

  • Recommend and implement corporate governance controls, standards, and procedures.

  • Report on outsourced services/contracts and business metrics as required.

  • Produce standard operational reports to support decision-making at branch level.

  • Maintain ethical and professional relationships with all stakeholders.

  • Implement structured communication and feedback mechanisms across teams.

  • Monitor leadership development initiatives, identify gaps, and recommend actions.

  • Track and control free service and warranty provision costs in collaboration with service teams.

  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy in BI & FI systems, balancing and reconciling financial information.
