Android Software Engineer | Garmin Labs

We do this to enable our customers to make the most of their time spent pursuing their passions.  We are seeking an experienced Android Software Engineer to join our Garmin Labs team at our Cluj-Napoca office.  Garmin Labs is our R&D department where we focus on innovation. We employ new technologies, as well as existing ones, to develop new products and open new markets, with the purpose of bringing value to our customers through innovative solutions.  As part of this team, you will be developing, deploying, and maintaining Android applications for a variety of projects. We value candidates that are willing to take technical ownership and make significant contributions both in terms of code and proposed architectural solutions.  Here are a few recent projects that our team turned from ideas into reality:  • Garmin Blaze - equine wellness system 

• Garmin Clipboard - team coaching app

We believe that collaboration leads to the best ideas, and we rely heavily on team interaction. As a role based in Cluj-Napoca, this position will require 5 days in the office each week. 

Responsibilities:  • Work collaboratively and professionally in a team environment to develop software for specific requirements and technical problems, following Garmin’s coding standards. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design and ship new features for advanced Android applications. 

• Work on bug fixing and improving application performance. 

• Continuously discover, evaluate and implement new technologies to improve the development process. 

• Bring value by actively participating in code reviews and technical discussions. 

• Utilize development tools for version control, deployment, monitoring, and other instruments used in the software engineering process. 

• Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced Software Engineers.
