Project Overview:

Coroccohuayco Project:

Located in the Espinar region of Cusco, Coroccohuayco is part of the extension plan for the operations of the current Antapaccay mine, one of the most important copper deposits in the country. The project consists of the development of the engineering and construction of the mine facilities around the new Coroccohuayco open pit that include a primary crusher, a conveyor belt and the expansion of the Antapaccay and Tintaya concentrator plants, each of which includes the incorporation of a new ball mill, flotation cells, remilling mills, concentrate filters and energy transmission and distribution systems.

Job Summary:

This position provides strategic leadership, direction, and management of all Transmission Line and Energization Area construction activities. Responsible for safely delivering high-voltage transmission systems, substations interfaces, testing, pre-commissioning, energization, startup readiness, and turnover to operations while ensuring alignment with project objectives for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and client satisfaction. 

Functions as a senior construction leader responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors, field engineering, startup organizations, utility interfaces, and client stakeholders throughout execution and system energization. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Construction Management

Leads all field activities associated with transmission line construction, commissioning support, and system energization within a major project.
Develops construction execution strategies, work packaging plans, and energization/commissioning integration plans.
Directs superintendents, field engineers, subcontractors, and specialty contractors.
Establishes priorities to achieve project milestones while maintaining compliance with Bechtel ES&H, quality requirements, and project objectives.
Promotes accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across construction organizations.

  • Transmission Line Construction

Manages construction and installation of:High-voltage transmission lines, Tower and pole structures, Foundations and grounding systems, OPGW and fiber optic systems.
Supporting electrical infrastructure.
Ensures compliance with engineering specifications, applicable codes, utility standards, and client requirements.
Leads contractor performance evaluations and productivity improvement initiatives.

  • Energization and Startup Readiness

Develops and implements project energization strategies and execution plans.
Coordinates interfaces between transmission systems, substations, utility providers, startup teams, and operations personnel.
Oversees testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning support, and energization activities.
Ensures completion and acceptance of turnover packages, system dossiers, and quality documentation.
Leads energization risk management and operational readiness reviews.

  • Stakeholder and Client Management

Serves as the primary representative for transmission and energization matters.
Maintains effective relationships with clients, utilities, regulators, operations teams, and project leadership.
Supports executive reporting, strategic decision-making, and resolution of technical, construction, and operational interface issues.

  • Safety Leadership

Leads hazard identification, field inspections, and construction readiness reviews.
Promotes a proactive safety culture among employees and subcontractors.

  • Quality Management

Ensures execution of work in accordance with project quality standards.
Oversees inspection and testing programs.
Manages resolution of deficiencies, punch-list items, and non-conformance issues.
Verifies successful completion of turnover requirements prior to system energization.

  • Schedule and Cost Management

Supports development and implementation of construction execution plans and schedules.
Monitors performance against project baselines and objectives.
Identifies constraints and develops recovery plans as required.
Participates in forecasting, resource planning, productivity analysis, and budget control activities.

  • Planning and Decision-Making

Exercises independent judgment on complex construction, startup, and energization matters.
Develops execution strategies and recommendations impacting major project objectives.
Evaluates construction, operational, and technical risks and implements mitigation measures.
Influences project execution through leadership, technical expertise, and stakeholder engagement.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in electrical engineering or related engineering discipline with more than 15 years of experience in the industry.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with the Colegio de Ingenieros del Perú (CIP) and active professional licensure.
  • Significant experience in EPC/EPCM construction execution for mining, power, industrial, or infrastructure projects.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with high-voltage transmission systems and utility interfaces.
  • Experience managing transmission line construction and energization programs from construction through turnover.
  • Experience with pre-commissioning, commissioning, and plant startup processes.
  • Knowledge of transmission line engineering and design tools such as PLS-CADD and PLS-TOWER.
  • Strong client relationship, contract management, and stakeholder engagement skills
