Assistant Manager, Cloud & DC Infrastructure

Role Purpose

This position is responsible for managing, supporting, and optimizing Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG)'s Cloud and Data Centre (DC) Infrastructure across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The role will be required to oversee the design, implementation, security, automation, performance, resilience, and cost optimization of cloud and data centre platforms to support business transformation, operational excellence, and digital innovation.

Key Accountability

  • Manage and support the day-to-day operations of MAG's Cloud and Data Centre Infrastructure to ensure availability, performance, security, and reliability of IT services.
  • Support and administer cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments, including hybrid and multi-cloud platforms, in accordance with business and operational requirements.
  • Provide technical advice and recommendations on infrastructure solutions, upgrades, enhancements, and operational improvements to support business needs.
  • Coordinate and manage infrastructure-related Change Requests (CR), project implementation activities, and system enhancements in compliance with IT policies and standards.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud resource utilization and spending through FinOps best practices to ensure cost efficiency and effective use of cloud services.
  • Ensure cloud and infrastructure services comply with security, governance, regulatory, and operational requirements, working closely with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support automation and continuous improvement initiatives through Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), standardization, and operational best practices.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, performance, backup, and disaster recovery readiness to ensure resilient and stable operations.
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Network, Application, Digital, Data, AI Council and business teams to resolve issues, implement solutions, and support new technology initiatives.
  • Manage and coordinate cloud providers, technology vendors, and service partners to ensure delivery of agreed service levels and support obligations.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, operational procedures, architecture diagrams, and audit records in accordance with MAG IT standards.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud and infrastructure technologies and recommend practical improvements that enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and service quality.

Qualification

  • Degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Data Centre Operation, or related field
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure, Data Centre Operations, Hybrid Cloud, or Enterprise Infrastructure environments.

Areas of Experience

  • Microsoft Azure and/or AWS, Oracle, Huawei, Alibaba cloud platforms.
  • Multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • FinOps and cloud cost management practices.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, Ansible or equivalent).
  • Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity (BCP), and High Availability solutions.
  • Cloud security, governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V or equivalent).
  • Enterprise monitoring and observability platforms.
  • ITIL-based service management and incident/problem management.
