Job Summary

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
St. Louis Catholic Academy, a K-8 Catholic elementary school located in St. Louis, MO, seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Principal for Academic Excellence. The Assistant Principal will serve as a member of the school leadership team under the direct supervision of the Principal. This role focuses primarily on instructional leadership, teacher development, and fostering academic excellence while supporting a faith-filled, nurturing learning environment. Rooted in the mission of Catholic education, the Assistant Principal will promote the spiritual, moral, and intellectual development of all students while upholding the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
Academic Excellence (Primary Focus)

*Ensure Catholic teaching and values are infused throughout the educational program.
*Provide instructional coaching through frequent classroom observations with timely, constructive, growth-oriented feedback.*
*Collaborate with teachers to strengthen curriculum implementation, differentiation, and instructional practices.
*Lead professional learning communities to support ongoing teacher collaboration and development.
*Assist with analyzing assessment data (NWEA, formative/summative assessments) with teachers to inform instruction and interventions.
*Support the implementation of culturally responsive pedagogy that affirms and supports students.
*Mentor and support new teachers through onboarding and ongoing coaching.
*Assist in developing programs to address diverse learning needs across grades K-8.
*Support each student's growth in knowledge of the world through exploration and study using curriculum standards.
*Foster students’ gifts and talents, helping them develop an appreciation for their unique skills.Model Gospel values in all interactions with students, faculty, and families.
*Support the school's vision for faith formation and the integration of Catholic identity into school life, and promote a culture of dignity and respect grounded in Catholic Social   Teaching.
*Participate actively in liturgies, prayer services, and faith-based activities.*
*Collaborate with leadership on recruitment and selection of school personnel.
*Build authentic, trust-based relationships with school families as partners in faith and learning.
*Support social-emotional development and trauma-informed practices and address initial student discipline matters using restorative and faith-centered practices.
*Attend school-related meetings as needed (faculty meetings, professional development).

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
*Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church (preferred).
*Master’s degree in educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, or related field.
*Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience, preferably in grades K-8 in a Catholic school or faith-based school.
*Expertise in building trusting relationships with students and families.*
*Strong understanding of child development across elementary and middle school grades.
*Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
*Commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy and creating inclusive learning environments.
*Ability to lead professional learning communities and teacher development initiatives.
*Ability to analyze student data to make informed instructional decisions.
*Experience in implementing restorative discipline and trauma-informed practices.
*Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
