Newmont Suriname was established in 2004 as an entity of Newmont Mining Corporation and is headquartered in Paramaribo, Suriname. Located in South America, Suriname was originally settled as a Dutch colony, is very culturally diverse and enjoys a tropical climate. The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. Strong support from host communities and the government of Suriname strengthen Merian's ability to deliver safe, profitable production with significant upside potential and opportunity for employees, host communities and shareholders.

Dimensions
Purpose

Administer accurate, detailed documentation of security incidents ,access records, irregularities and violations.

Essential Duties
  • Administer accurate records of all security incidents, access logs, and visitor sign-ins, ensuring data is correctly filed and easily retrievable.
  • Report and collate all security incidents, irregularities, and violations, ensuring detailed and accurate records are maintained.
  • Conduct residential security assessments for identified individuals (i.e. VIPs, expats)
  • Design, implement and manage security controls and 3rd party contractors for residences including CCTV, response services, alarms
  • Coordinate location emergency response plans and train staff on procedures such as evacuations.
  • Oversee travel security tracking tool for business travelers, VIPs and expats, and ensure travel procedures are followed.
  • Support management of access control system for the location

Training & Experience

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of physical security principles, practices, procedures, and incident management.
  • Knowledge of emergency response planning, evacuation procedures, and business continuity planning.
  • Understanding of access control systems and electronic security measures like CCTV and alarms.
  • Awareness of travel security risks, mitigation strategies, and use of tracking tools.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and regulatory standards in physical security, including VPSHR.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in managing electronic security systems and designing residential security controls.
  • Strong skills in maintaining accurate security incident records and using reporting software.
  • Expertise in conducting and analyzing security risk assessments.
  • Skills in implementing and coordinating emergency response plans and training staff.
  • Experience in managing third-party security contractors and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Strong communication skills for incident reporting and training staff on security procedures.
  • Proficiency in security management software, tools, and travel security tracking systems.
  • Meticulous in maintaining accurate records and incident reporting.
  • Ability to assess security risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Strong skills to handle security incidents and emergencies effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff, contractors, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Leadership skills to coordinate emergency response and manage security personnel.
