Backend API Developer

Job Description

We are seeking a Backend API Developer to design, develop, and support backend applications, APIs, and integration services. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions while contributing to the continuous improvement of software development and delivery practices.

Job Description - Grade Specific

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Build, configure, and support system integrations and messaging workflows using Apache Camel
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend components with a focus on scalability, performance, security, and maintainability
• Collaborate with product, frontend, DevOps, QA, and other technical teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in accordance with established coding standards and best practices
• Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and support automated testing initiatives
• Troubleshoot application and production issues and implement timely resolutions
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions and continuous improvement initiatives
• Support deployment, monitoring, and operational activities in cloud and containerized environments
• Assist in maintaining application reliability, availability, and performance

Skills and Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience in backend software development using Java
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, RESTful API development, dependency injection, and application security concepts
• Experience using Apache Camel and Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP) for application and system integration
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed applications
• Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, or similar platforms
• Understanding of software design principles, development methodologies, and backend engineering best practices
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and software delivery processes
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across business and technology teams
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Knowledge of Spring Cloud, API gateways, service discovery, or service mesh technologies
• Familiarity with security standards and protocols, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and TLS
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
• Exposure to capital markets, trading platforms, financial services, or related domains is advantageous
