Business Development Specialist, Modern PCI & WM, GATE Region
Purpose Statement:
This role ensures safe and successful Modern PCI and LAAC therapy outcomes by advising clinical and sales teams, promoting therapy adoption, and providing expert support and training. It expands therapy use into new accounts and regions while protecting long‑term value and proper usage.
Works closely with the Coronary Therapies Franchise Lead, Interventional Cardiology Account Managers and Distributors along with relevant Commercial and Marketing teams in the region of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Market & Business Awareness
- Maintains awareness of industry, competition, healthcare and economic trends across the Interventional Cardiology landscape.
- Adjusts franchise business plans to reflect evolving regional market conditions.
2. Business Development & Sales Strategy
- Identifies new business opportunities and key accounts through strong relationships with cardiology KOLs, medical societies, and academic institutions.
- Develops and executes strategies to grow Boston Scientific`s modern PCI footprint while at the same time protecting and growing our presence in Cath Labs with Core portfolio and by gaining Market Share from competition.
- Capable to present economic value (cost efficiency) and clinical benefits to hospital executives and decision-makers.
- Works closely with peers and Channel Partners (Distributors) to ensure sufficient, professional and safe presence in the CathLabs.
- Drives franchise / product therapy awareness across Countries of responsibility to expand reach and accelerate adoption.
3. Customer Education & Case Support:
- Demonstrates a deep understanding and knowledge of the products and therapies in their responsibility, including troubleshooting
- Identifies Educational needs and provides ongoing technical training and support to customers directly during a procedure in the Cath lab.
- Provides Cath lab Inventory Management (Consignment, missing stock, rotating and expiring stock management), including complaint reports management, follow-ups on general Cath lab requests, and provides feedback to Account Manager as appropriate.
- Is capable of building strong and trusted business relationships with Hospital Staff and supporting them before, during, and after the cases. Always operates based on Boston Scientific’s ethics and SOPs.
- Provides day-to-day field clinical and technical support, education support, Account management, coordination, and collection of training needs.
- Educates and trains physicians, hospital personnel, and staff on (not limited to) Modern PCI & LAAC products by coordinating training sessions, Hands-on training, in-service education programs, seminars, and/or outside symposiums.
4. Commercial and Marketing Contributions
- Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop account plans by gathering essential business intelligence—market size and potential, trends, opportunities, competitive landscape, segmentation, product launches, account targeting, and updated clinical/economic stakeholders—aligned with sales and divisional strategy.
- Validates nominations based on central guidelines for new therapy account selection and ensures business case protects the price and value of New Therapy.
- Works closely with the commercial team to identify areas where the New Therapy can be leveraged to drive core business growth.
- Provides support on the tender applications (technical and clinical) in collaboration with local sales team and tendering department
- Records customer-related activities in a given database (SalesCloud etc.)
- Attends and actively participates in customer, company, and industry-sponsored events and meetings aligned with direct line manager, commercial and marketing teams
- Embraces remote support technologies
5. Quality & Compliance
- Serve as an interface between customers and the sales organization to address complaints, issues, and product queries.
- Guide the local leadership team to ensure adherence to Boston Scientific Quality System requirements and all applicable local regulations.
6. Skills & Background Requirements (must-have)
- Undergraduate degree required
- Clinical sales skills, solutions-oriented thinking, and proactive behavior
- Able to work in a matrix environment, independently and in a team
- Superior communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in English. Other languages are a plus
- Clean driving license category B
- Ability to travel extensively (60-80%)
