Your Impact

Reporting to the Team Lead, Community Relations, you will play a key role in strengthening relationships between Newmont Tanami and our host communities. You will support Indigenous employment initiatives, community engagement programs and stakeholder partnerships while helping deliver positive social performance outcomes.

Working closely with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal communities, employees and internal stakeholders, you will champion meaningful engagement, cultural awareness and sustainable community development initiatives that create lasting value.

As part of our team, you will:

• Support Indigenous employment, trainee, apprenticeship and Yapa Crew programs
• Mentor Indigenous employees through onboarding, development and retention initiatives
• Coordinate community meetings, stakeholder engagement activities and site visits
• Build strong relationships with Traditional Owners, Warlpiri communities and the Central Land Council
• Represent Newmont at community events and engagement activities
• Support cultural heritage protection and Work Area Clearance activities
• Monitor commitments under the Consolidated Mining Agreement and Ten Year Plan
• Promote cultural awareness initiatives across site
• Identify opportunities to support Indigenous businesses and local procurement
• Contribute to community investment programs and positive social performance outcomes

Prerequisites for your success in this role

• Experience working with remote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities
• Demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships with Traditional Owners, Elders and Aboriginal organisations
• Strong stakeholder engagement, community relationship management and communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with a high level of cultural awareness
• Experience supporting Indigenous employment, traineeships, apprenticeships or workforce development programs
• Knowledge of Aboriginal Land Rights, Land Councils, Indigenous employment initiatives and community engagement practices
• Experience within mining, community development, Indigenous engagement or the not-for-profit sector (highly regarded)
• Qualifications in Community Development, Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies or a related discipline (highly regarded)
• Experience with social performance frameworks, community investment programs and stakeholder consultation (highly regarded)
• Current Australian Manual Driver's Licence
• Ability to work FIFO roster arrangements

Your Work Environment

• FIFO 8 days on site | 6 days off site
• Reside in our fully equipped accommodation village
• Approved point-of-hire locations: Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth and Brisbane
