The Opportunity | Te āheinga

This is an exciting opportunity to join New Plymouth District Council’s Delivery Sustainability & Infrastructure Group as an Asset Works Programme Planner on a two‑year fixed‑term basis, while the permanent incumbent undertakes a secondment.

 

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting Council’s maintenance programmes through the optimisation of maintenance planning and scheduling. Your work will ensure maintenance activities are well‑coordinated, clearly communicated and easily understood by operational teams, directly contributing to the safe, efficient and effective use of Council assets across the district.

 

Working closely with asset managers, planners and delivery teams, you’ll help translate asset management plans into practical, achievable works programmes. This role offers the chance to make a tangible impact on how Council services are delivered, while gaining valuable experience within a collaborative, purpose‑driven organisation that is focused on enabling a thriving and sustainable community.

 

 

Key Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa matua

  • Develop forward works programmes
  • Optimise cross-asset works programme, identify efficiency opportunities and prioritise asset renewals
  • Develop and optimise preventative asset maintenance schedules
  • Prepare business case reports to support works programme
  • Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation

 

 

Essential Skills and Experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako

  • Familiarity with forward works programming requirements and maintenance planning
  • Experience of asset management systems, principles and practice
  • Knowledge of local government waters infrastructure, property and parks assets
