Mō te tūnga | About the role
Applications are sought from self-motivated individuals with an attention to detail for a permanent position within the Nelson Criminal Justice Support Unit.
Tasman District CJSU provides support across the district assisting frontline staff with preparation of prosecution files, trial management and disclosures. This includes the management of disclosure (initial, full, & ongoing), liaising with OC Case, PPS, Crown and Defense agencies, and organising evidence to meet national file standards.
Key Accountabilities:
- Working as part of a team to support the frontline.
- Ability to manage multiple files.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and maintain self-motivation.
- Prepare a variety of Prosecution files i.e JAT, Jury, Formal Proof and Traffic
Infringement files to a standard that provides a prosecutor with a
comprehensive report which sets out the case details, available evidence and
issues identified based upon an analysis of it.

- Proven ability to work autonomously and as a part of a wider team.

- Effective case management skills.
- Ability to provide guidance and deliver training.
- Have a working understanding of relevant legislation and the current policing environment
- Experience with preparation of prosecution files and experience working with the Criminal Disclosure Act and Evidence Act would be a huge advantage.

- Maintain current responder level certifications
- Frontline experience preferred
- PCT required

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $87,306 and $91,353 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
