Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitable Enrolled Nurses to join the Enrolled Nurse Transition to Mental Health Nursing Program.

 

About Northern Health:

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

 

Services are provided through our six main campuses: 

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.

In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg. 

 

About Mental Health Division: 

 

Northern Health is the third largest mental health service in Victoria Northern.

 

Within the Mental Health Division, we pride ourselves on providing high quality mental health services to people living in the northern regions of Melbourne, and work in a collaborative way with consumers and carers based on recovery principles.

 

We aim to provide strong clinical leadership to support all staff in the provision of professional treatment and care by our integrated community teams, inpatient, and residential services. 

 

 

 

About the Role:

Northern Health’s mission is to train our future workforce and support professional development to enter into the field of mental health nursing.

 

The Enrolled Nurse Transition to Mental Health Nursing Program enables Enrolled Nurses to Transition into Mental Health Nursing Practice while having the additional support of experienced nurses in the field.

 

Northern Health is looking for enthusiastic Enrolled Nurses (EN) who have recently graduated or are currently working as an EN and wish to transition into the field of mental health nursing.

 

Mental Health is a specialised field and newly qualified ENs wanting to move into Mental Health Nursing field may find it difficult to get an opportunity to work in a Mental Health setting.

 

If this applies to you our 12-month program provides a great opportunity to expand on your nursing knowledge and enable you to get a foot in the door of this specialised field of Nursing.

 

This 12-month program requires you to work in one of our Adult and Aged In-patient units, or Community Mental Health Services and Community Care Units while being supported to enable professional growth including clinical skill consolidation achieved by planned activities throughout the program.

 

You will work:

  • Within the EN scope of practise and provide excellent standards of patient care
  • in clinical settings with multidisciplinary teams
  • Follow the policies and procedures of Northern Health when performing nursing interventions and procedures

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) are a new or experienced Enrolled Nurse who is interested in mental health nursing and planning to open their horizon to additional learning opportunities.
  • Well-developed verbal and non-verbal communication skills
