Newmont Suriname was established in 2004 as an entity of Newmont Mining Corporation and is headquartered in Paramaribo, Suriname. The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. Dimensions
Purpose

To operate the 785D Haul truck in an active mining environment. All work must be completed in a safe and efficient manner while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Newmont values. Operate in a safe and efficient manner, causing the least wear and/or damage to the equipment and mine property; maintaining the highest level of production possible, when hauling material from point A to point B.

Essential Duties
  • Start and end timely
  • Work without risk or harm to self and others
  • Work under direction, ask questions when an instruction is not clear.
  • Communicate and provide work status handovers to incoming Equipment Operator.
  • Communicate with the Dispatcher regarding hazards encountered to provide sufficient information to the incoming Operators for the smooth running of Operations.
  • Consistently exercise discretion and judgement in job performance.
Training & Experience

Knowledge: 

  • Secondary School/ Technical Diploma/Trades Degree/ Specialized Technical Training Certificate
  • Have basic knowledge of mechanical system and demonstrated ability to perform and document a thorough pre-operational inspection to evaluate mechanical condition of truck.

Experience: 

  • Two (2) years’ experience working in a Mining Environment.

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Demonstrate good work ethic.
  • Commitment to personal safety.
  • Clear understanding of connection with personal work assignment and accomplishment of group goals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and see work through completion.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend new concepts and new work processes.
  • Solid skills with equipment / technical work as required to complete job.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of equipment required to complete work.
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Ability to complete complex forms/documents and order required parts/equipment to complete and document work.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license appropriate to the requirements of the vehicle
Working Conditions

Work Location: Merian Sipaliwini

Work schedule: 14x7x12 Day & Night shift
