Our Team, Your Impact

Under general supervision, performs advanced journey-level duties in reviewing specifications and determining the critical aspects of facilities, utilities and computer systems, and manufacturing equipment with regard to product and process quality. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated systems and robotics to improve the efficiency, reliability, and performance of our operations. This role requires a strong understanding of automation technologies, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Introduces, troubleshoots and audits current processes. Has in-depth understanding of pharmacological, chemical, medical, compliance, legal, and industry factors

How You’ll Spend Your Day

All areas of responsibility listed below are essential to the satisfactory performance of this position by any incumbents with reasonable accommodation if necessary. Any non-essential functions are assumed to be included in other related duties or assignments. 

  • Support the implementation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of PLC, SCADA, HMI, and basic control systems under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Assist with PLC troubleshooting, minor logic changes, I/O checks, and basic programming tasks using platforms such as Rockwell / Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent.
  • Support updates to SCADA and HMI screens, alarms, trends, tags, and operator interface improvements.
  • Participate in the implementation of robotics and automated handling systems, including installation support, basic robot program adjustments, safety checks, and integration with production equipment.
  • Assist with commissioning, start-up, FAT, SAT, and qualification activities by executing test scripts, documenting results, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Provide first-level troubleshooting support for automation, instrumentation, sensors, actuators, drives, robots, and control panel components.
  • Work with engineering, maintenance, operations, quality, IT, and vendors to support automation projects and day-to-day production needs.
  • Assist with basic industrial networking tasks, including device connectivity checks, IP address verification, communication troubleshooting, and support for protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, and OPC UA.
  • Support data collection from PLCs, HMIs, historians, robotics systems, and production equipment for monitoring, reporting, and basic performance analysis.
  • Follow established automation standards, coding practices, change control procedures, GMP requirements, safety rules, and cybersecurity guidelines.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation, including equipment lists, I/O lists, network information, test records, drawings markups, backup logs, and SOP updates.
  • Assist with backups, software version control, spare parts identification, and lifecycle support for automation and robotics equipment.
  • Support small continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime, improving reliability, simplifying operator interaction, and increasing automation efficiency.
  • Learn and apply new automation, robotics, digital, and analytics tools while receiving coaching from senior engineers and technical specialists.

Your Skills and Experience

Education/Certification/Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in industrial/electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in automation engineering or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in automation tools and technologies such as PLCs, SCADA systems, and programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#) and robotics.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of control systems, process automation, and industrial networking.

Technical Skills:

  • PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / CompactLogix, Siemens S7 / TIA Portal).
  • SCADA and HMI development (iFIX, Wonderware InTouch, FactoryTalk View, Ignition, WinCC).
  • Industrial IT and OT/IT integration.
  • Robotics.
  • Industrial networking and protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, OPC UA).
  • Server, virtualization, and operating systems (Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V in industrial environments).
  • Database and historian systems (SQL Server, OSIsoft PI, or equivalent).
  • Automation system cybersecurity concepts (firewalls, access control, patching, backups).
  • Batch and continuous process control systems.
  • Use of modern digital tools, analytics platforms, and AI-enabled systems for asset performance and predictive insights.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and systems-thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering, IT, quality, and operations teams.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and project ownership.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and compliance mindset.
