Mō te tūnga | About the role

Join the New Zealand Police Media and Communications team and help shape how one of New Zealand’s most trusted and visible organisations connects with the public. As a Senior Advisor Communications (Multimedia), you will play a key role in delivering high-quality written, video and photographic content that informs, engages and builds trust with communities across Aotearoa.

Working closely with subject matter experts, leaders, communications colleagues and the team videographer, you will create and refine compelling content for a range of Police communications channels. You will provide editorial oversight, quality assurance and communications support, ensuring content is clear, accurate, audience-focused and aligned with Police values, brand standards and organisational priorities.

Key Accountabilities:

• Produce high-quality written, video and photographic content
• Provide editorial review and communications quality assurance
• Develop compelling stories that engage internal and external audiences
• Partner with leaders and subject matter experts to support communications needs
• Deliver content aligned with Police priorities, values and brand standards

To be successful in the role you will:

• Have excellent written and communication skills
• Have appropriate experience in the relevant field of speciality media or communications
• Deliver high standards of service to all stakeholders in a professional and timely manner
• Be politically aware with sound understanding of government and public sector operating environments
• Have high levels of discretion and professional credibility
• Understand media law, privacy, OIA principles and reputational risk
• Understand contemporary digital, social and traditional media environments

Whakaritenga motuhake | Special requirements

• Demonstratable communications experience, particularly working in large complex organisations
• Demonstratable specialist communications content experience with demonstrated expertise in editorial leadership, content strategy or multimedia production.
• Relevant Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Media Studies or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. Postgraduate qualification – desirable.

• This role is based in the Wellington area. Some travel may be required

Utu ā-tau | Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $111,529 and $129,277 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
