Senior Manager, Base Maintenance Operations & Workshop

Reporting To

Head, Maintenance Engineering / Head Operation

Position Summary

To lead the Base Maintenance & Workshop Department, comprising Hangar Production (Aircraft Hangar Checks / Aircraft Structure Repair, Paint & Workshop), ensuring all aircraft, components, tools and equipment maintenance are delivered safely, in compliance with regulatory and company requirements, and in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Accountable to drive a planning-led operation with strong execution discipline, ensuring aircraft checks are delivered against planned turnaround time (TAT) with optimal productivity, efficiency and utilisation of manhours.

Responsible for end-to-end base maintenance performance from pre-planning, execution, recovery management up to aircraft release (BMR), including workshop readiness to support operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Establish and maintain an effective organisational structure, including clear roles, responsibilities and accountability across Maintenance Operations Base department.
  • Develop and direct short- and long-term operational plans to achieve on-time aircraft maintenance check delivery and ensure workshop support readiness.
  • Ensure alignment between operational demand and execution capability, including optimisation of resource deployment.
  • Accountable for the satisfactory completion and certification of all maintenance work in accordance with approved work specifications, Work Orders and MOE procedures.
  • Enforce adherence to planned work scope and minimise last-minute changes or unplanned work that impact turnaround time and operational stability.
  • Ensure availability of sufficient competent personnel to plan, perform, supervise, inspect and certify maintenance work.
  • Drive competency development of supervisory roles (Manager, Project Manager, Foreman, LEO, Lead Technician) to strengthen control of aircraft production lines in safety, quality, productivity and manpower utilisation.
  • Lead and enforce full compliance with organisational procedures, safety policies, and human factors standards, ensuring robust operational discipline and clear accountability across all Base Maintenance activities.
  • Drive daily and weekly operational performance through structured tracking of manhours, productivity, efficiency and utilisation (PEU), ensuring alignment between planned and actual performance.
  • Lead recovery actions for any deviation from planned TAT, including cross-functional coordination with CAMO, Supply Chain, Engineering and Quality.
  • Strengthen cross-functional collaboration with Operations Planning, Supply Chain, Technical Services and Quality to ensure seamless end-to-end maintenance delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance turnaround time, reduce operational inefficiencies and improve overall performance

Qualifications / Areas of Experience

  • Degree with comprehensive knowledge of aircraft and component maintenance management, with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a managerial role
  • Holder of Aircraft Maintenance Licence acceptable to CAAM with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (LAE)
  • Minimum of 10 years working experience in Aviation Industry
