• Measuring the dimensions like length, sides, diagonals rhomboidity, bend etc.
• Check the surface defects like cracks, pin holes, blow holes depressions & slag patches by visual inspection and reporting to Billet yard foreman.
• The surface defects are abnormal;   BRING to notice of   shift in charge of CCM & Foreman-QA ( BY)/ Supervisor-QA ( BY)
• Keeping all defect billets/hold billets separately with identification.
• Supervision on slag patches grinding, bend billet straitening.
• Supervision on billet markers, gas cutters &inspection assistants.
• Planning & identifying the billets to cut macro sample.
• To check the labeling, color coding & numbering on billets.
• Billet stacking.
• Prepare the inspection reports/ shift activities.
• Under the guidance of Foreman-QA(BY) / Supervisor- QA(BY) for billet dispatches.
• Before loading he will ensure the color coding, length, quality and grade of the billets.
• When he receive the truck, he coordinate with truck operator to park the vehicle appropriately, then he coordinate with Billet yard crane operator / Forklift operator for loading.
• Issue the gate pass.
• Checking the weighbridge and if any abnormalities in the weight, matter will bring to notice of Supervisor- Billet yard.
• Updating and filing the billet dispatch documents.
• Practicing and following safety procedures of billet loading.
• Maintaining good housekeeping at billet yard area.
