Newmont Suriname was established in 2004 as an entity of Newmont Mining Corporation and is headquartered in Paramaribo, Suriname. Located in South America, Suriname was originally settled as a Dutch colony, is very culturally diverse and enjoys a tropical climate. The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. Strong support from host communities and the government of Suriname strengthen Merian's ability to deliver safe, profitable production with significant upside potential and opportunity for employees, host communities and shareholders.

Purpose

Provide specialized support in executing exploration drilling programs efficiently and safely, focusing on the planning, coordination, and execution of drilling activities to achieve exploration objectives while ensuring compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.

Essential Duties
  • Administer exploration drilling activities to meet project objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate drilling performance, ensuring alignment with safety and operational standards.
  • Deliver technical guidance to drilling team members to enhance performance and achieve cost efficiency.
  • Liaise with geologists and other partners to align drilling programs with exploration goals.
  • Monitor compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements during drilling operations and report any non-comformance to the Superintendent.
  • Monitor contractor performance and deliver feedback to ensure adherence to contract terms.
  • Assess and report on drilling data to support decision-making and resource evaluation.
  • Support continuous improvement opportunities to enhance drilling efficiency and safety.
  • Execute site visits to inspect drilling operations and deliver on-site support as needed.
  • Compile detailed reports and presentations on drilling program progress and outcomes for partners.
Training & Experience
  • Knowledge of SAP for purchase requisitions, service entry sheets, and invoice processing.
  • Understanding of Newmont standards and procedures related to exploration drilling.
  • Basic knowledge of exploration drilling methods (Diamond Drilling and Reverse Circulation).
  • Understanding of drilling safety standards, risk assessments, and safe work practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, KPI tracking, and reporting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI to review and analyze drilling performance dashboards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint for preparing operational and management presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word for technical reports and documentation.
  • Ability to review contractor invoices and validate supporting documentation.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly drilling reports.
  • Ability to monitor drilling performance against planned targets and KPIs.
  • Good planning and organizational skills. Effective communication and coordination with contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
