Purpose
Production Planner & Scheduler is responsible for planning and scheduling machine shop related activities, providing manufacturing operations with a plan that maximizes efficiency, resources, and capacity while achieving on time delivery within budget.

Roles & Responsibilities
1) Plans, prepares, issues, and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
2) Reviews capacity and develops a capacity report to identify time periods when capacity could impact production’s ability to meet demand.
3) Responsible for planning the implementation of Engineering Change Orders.
4) Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.
5) Perform analysis that supports defining the roadmap for production capacity increases/change.
6) Respond to unanticipated changes—e.g. production shortfall vs. schedule or material shortages: provide information, impact assessment, and options to downstream shops, revise production shifts and or mix as needed.
7) Updates planning parameters to maintain appropriate inventory levels and production efficiency.
8) Understands how to navigate and operate a materials management system (ERP/MRP system knowledge).
9) Assisting the manager in organising, planning and implementing strategy.
10) Handling inventory management and ordering supplies. 
11) Training and coaching new employees, maintaining records and files.
12) Assist in budgeting and resource allocation
13) Managing and overseeing the work of employees.
14) Monitoring employee performance and providing feedback.
