Dimensions
Purpose

Prepare and maintain medium term (3 months to 5 years) mine planning work packages for mine operations which align with Integrated Strategic plan for the site.

Essential Duties
  • Implement short-term mining plans that encompass all aspects of mine operations relevant for site, including production, infrastructure, and workforce plans. Report short-term plan inputs through assumptions templates and supported by operating performance analysis.
  • Implement optimized Mine, Stope Designs and Schedules, outlining the sequence of mining operations over medium-term, 3 months - 5 years
  • Implement and monitor a comprehensive medium-term plan for the mine operations, detailing production targets, development milestones, and closure activities, as applicable
  • Deliver accurate and relevant physicals to enable team members to plan fixed plant infrastructure and mobile maintenance replacement schedules, that support medium-term deliverables
  • Execute medium-term planning within annual budget to form an integrated schedule
  • Perform options analysis for different mining scenarios to support operational decision-making
  • Update reserve and resource estimates, COG and QP Reports annually to meet Newmont standards and reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure medium term plans and designs address technical, environmental, and economic challenges
  • Report medium term plan physicals and designs, to inform S&ER, Tails capacity and Closure planning estimates that support LOM plans
  • Deliver mine, sequence designs, options, tradeoffs and medium term plan schedules to team members for approval and feedback
Training & Experience

Knowledge:

  • Degree qualified Mining Engineer, with practical Mining Engineering experience, in all aspects of Operational Planning (STP/MTP) to ensure an executable plan is developed.
  • Underground mine design and scheduling expertise to produce the physicals output for Business plans, LOM and Strategic plans. Relevant experience to gain recognition as a
  • Competent/Qualified Person for MRMR reporting.Operational value drivers in mine operations.
  • Mine design and scheduling optimization.
  • Mine engineering design and scheduling, including Deswik software. Knowledge of functional Cost modeling and tools.  Understand Mine plan compliance monitoring and Safety in design concepts.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and proficiency in English required, additional language capability (Spanish, Dutch) an asset.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient skills in Mine design and scheduling, and Mine Planning concepts and procedures, and working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Compenent proficiency in application of Mine design and Planning Software tools.
  • Competent proficiency in designing and implementing solutions to optimize value and mitigate risk in LOM plans.
  • Competent proficiency in Functional Cost modeling and application of tools.
  • Competent ability to generate stakeholder buy-in through influence with Site TS team, to deliver executable mine plans.
  • Competent proficiency in managing time constraints, competing priorities and work prioritization, in multidisciplinary environment, to meet business needs.
  • Competent proficiency in relevant mining software, and in the use of with Microsoft Office Suite.
