Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Summary
Our Carpenters play a vital role in constructing, installing, and repairing a wide range of structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. This includes building and maintaining research laboratories, offices, and other facilities to ensure they meet operational and safety standards. From erecting frameworks to performing detailed repairs, Carpenters deliver high-quality craftsmanship that supports the functionality and integrity of our buildings.
Work hours are Monday-Friday 7 A.M.-4 P.M. and employees are required to exert physical effort during a portion (up to 4 hours) of a normal work shift in handling objects over 50 pounds.
Job Duties
- Assembles casework items for construction projects.
- Performs work according to drawings or verbal instructions.
- Repairs high grade articles of furniture such as cabinets, chairs, store fixtures, and office equipment.
- Coordinates and schedules work with other trades personnel and contractors to complete jobs in a timely manner.
- Performs carpentry duties using a variety of carpentry hand and power tools.
- Maintains clean work area and assists lead carpenter in cleaning up completed projects.
- Follows up with customer to ensure quality and satisfaction.
- Cuts out wood trim and plastic laminates for case work projects.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of Trade or Technical School.
Department-specific Requirements
- Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and meet Baylor College of Medicine's driving eligibility requirements, including a clean driving record and a minimum of three years of U.S. driving history.
Work Authorization Requirement:
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.
