The GWS (Global Workplace Solutions) group manages a worldwide portfolio of real estate and facilities of nearly two million square feet in the San Francisco Bay Area, one million square feet in Oregon, and potentially adding facilities in Asia in the next two years. Ensuring that all sites operate smoothly without disruption, this group also provides lab services such as gas and chemical delivery, tool installation projects, and cleanroom garments. This group is responsible for conducting all construction and site improvement work to ensure that all work complies with global and local regulatory requirements. This group also provides engineering work to support infrastructure maintenance and construction.

The impact you’ll make

Responsible for KTC wastewater treatment (WWT) and exhaust scrubber systems to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant facility operations.

What you’ll do

Core systems of responsibility include, but not limited to:

  • Acid Wastewater Neutralization (AWN) Systems
  • Fluoride Wastewater Treatment Systems
  • Mixed Metal Removal Systems
  • Copper Removal Systems
  • Reclaim Process Water and Facility Wastewater Systems
  • Wet Scrubbers (Acid, Caustic, and Specialty Scrubbers)
  • Exhaust Collection and Treatment Systems
  • Waste Chemical Collection and Transfer Systems
  • Environmental Monitoring and Compliance Systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, develop, and optimize wastewater treatment and exhaust scrubber systems.
  • Review and approve facility infrastructure and process tool connections related to wastewater and exhaust systems.
  • Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and engineering specifications.
  • Perform process calculations, mass balance evaluations, and treatment capacity assessments.
  • Support equipment selection, sizing, and commissioning activities for WWT and scrubber systems.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide engineering recommendations to improve system reliability, maintainability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
  • Maintain treatment capacity models and forecast future facility demand.
  • Evaluate wastewater characteristics and develop treatment strategies for fluoride, mixed metals, cooper, solvents, acids, and alkaline waste streams.
  • Review environmental permits and ensure compliance with local and global environmental regulations.
  • Manage contractors, consultants, and external service providers to ensure successful project execution.
  • Support startup, commissioning, and performance testing activities.
  • Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for facility improvement and expansion projects.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for environmental and operational issues.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide technical training to operations personnel.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance environmental performance, system uptime, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage capital and expense projects from planning through execution and closeout.

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in wastewater treatment, environmental systems, semiconductor facilities, or related industries.

  • Strong understanding of wastewater treatment and scrubber exhaust technologies, including: Neutralization, Coagulation and Flocculation, Clarification, Ion Exchange, Activated Carbon, Biological Treatment

  • Experience with wet scrubber systems and exhaust treatment technologies.

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and wastewater discharge requirements.

  • Ability to perform process calculations, mass balance analyses, and equipment sizing.

  • Experience reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, and engineering design documents.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Experience supporting facility construction and commissioning projects.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience with fluoride, cooper, and mixed metal wastewater treatment systems.
  • Familiarity with RPW, FWW, Copper and Mixed metal water systems.
  • Knowledge of local environmental regulations in Korea, Taiwan, or the United States.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance projects and permit applications.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience with data analysis and environmental reporting.
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.
