Project Overview:

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.

Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year. We are seeking a candidate for a Civil Field Engineer position on Project Kilby in Pecos, Texas. The candidate will mobilize on a long-term (camp) assignment to the project in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award.

Job Summary:

The Civil Field Engineer is responsible for supporting the daily inspection and construction of installed civil works related to multiple General Electric 7HA.02 Simple Cycle Gas Turbines, Generators and Selective Catalyst Reduction emissions systems. Scope of works include underground utilities, excavation, backfill, formwork, reinforced concrete, embedded steel, structural steel, anchors bolts and thermal monitoring of concrete during the curing process. The Civil Field Engineer will be given daily direction by the Lead Civil Field Engineer. #LI-RM1

Major Responsibilities:

Work Planning & Packaging 

  • Coordinates the preparation of construction drawings, sketches, projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements
  • Contributes in planning construction methods and procedures.

Material Management 

  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.

Quantities 

  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.

Safety / Quality Control 

  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

Technical  

  • Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
  • Supports construction engineers, discipline superintendents, foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents

System Turnover Coordinator  

For Direct Hire

  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Builds system and area turnover packages both digitally and physically for turnover to startup and client.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Required a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Maintain, promote and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft and professional staff.
  • Applies company policies & procedures to resolve routine issues
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Navisworks, Propeller, document management system/Aconex, Unifier, Quantity reporting software/Teamworks.
  • Familiarity with national standards such as ACI, AISC & ASTM.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving ability.
  • Experienced implementing and utilizing Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures.
  • Demonstrated commitment to environment, safety and health (ES&H). Demonstrated commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
  • Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
