Project Overview:
Bechtel is supporting the construction of Micron FAB20, a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Clay, New York. This complex mega-project requires disciplined concrete execution to support foundations, slabs, walls, equipment pads, utility structures, and other critical civil and structural work across a large project footprint and fast-paced schedule.
Job Summary:
Assigned to a field construction organization in a supervisory capacity for concrete scope. Responsible for directing and coordinating direct hire Craft Professional activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of concrete work. Ensures construction operations are planned, sequenced, and executed in accordance with design, schedule, and project requirements while supporting concrete field productivity and performance. #LI-ME1
Major Responsibilities:
- Supervises and/or directs assigned concrete Craft Professional activities, generally supporting discipline supervision of up to 25 craft, and supports competency development, performance feedback, and training of assigned craft and field supervision team members.
- Schedules work to be performed, reviews work accomplished by each craft, and coordinates established area operational plans for assigned concrete scope.
- Determines workforce requirements and supports the preparation of construction methods, schedules, manning charts, material requirements, and equipment requirements for assigned concrete work.
- Reviews and assigns installation work packages to Foremen and General Foremen and supports concrete placement sequencing, access planning, and workface readiness.
- Reviews project controls information related to progress, cost, schedule, installed quantities, productivity performance, and forecast inputs.
- Reports and reviews installed quantities with Field Engineering for verification, quantity claiming, and alignment with project progress reporting requirements.
- Coordinates construction activities with other disciplines, adjacent work areas, subcontractors, and client or resident representatives as directed by construction management.
- Monitors tool and equipment usage and prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools, consumables, and non-permanent materials needed to maintain craft productivity.
- Ensures assigned concrete construction operations and subcontractor activities comply with approved design documents, specifications, schedules, budgets, project procedures, inspection/testing requirements, acceptance criteria, and quality requirements.
- Coordinates with Field Engineering, Design, Foremen, General Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret engineering design documents, vendor documents, RFIs, field changes, constructability issues, and technical requirements affecting assigned concrete work.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of concrete construction, including formwork, reinforcing steel, embeds, anchor bolts, foundations, slabs, walls, placements, curing, protection, and finishing.
- Ability to plan and support concrete work using installation work packages, short-interval planning, workface readiness, quantity tracking, and productivity monitoring.
- Ability to read and apply drawings, specifications, vendor data, inspection requirements, test requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise Craft Professionals, coordinate Foremen and General Foremen, and resolve field execution issues within project requirements.
- Working knowledge of project controls, including progress reporting, installed quantities, cost trends, schedule performance, and forecast inputs.
- Commitment to safe, quality work and the ability to coordinate with Field Engineering, Quality, Project Controls, Procurement, Subcontracts, other disciplines, and construction management; experience with Advanced Work Packaging is preferred.
