Job Description

 

Job Scope:

Plans, directs, administers and supervises activities for patients.  Reports to the Medical Director on matters relating to the operation of the patient care division and maintain contact with the Head of Department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Department Policy and Guidelines

  • Examines, diagnoses, and treats diseases and injuries of musculoskeletal system by surgical and conservative means and application of corrective mechanical devices

  • Determines   procedures  for  preoperative   and   postoperative   care  such   as administering  sedatives,  prescribing  diets,  and  preparing  operative  area  of patients.

  • Examines patients and determines x-ray examinations and clinical laboratory tests required. Interprets test results and evaluates examination findings.

  • Applies surgical procedures and coordinates operation with anesthesiologist.

  • Reduces and immobilizes fractures by open or closed methods, using such corrective devices as braces, casts, and splints.

  • Treats patients suffering from surgical shock, postoperative hemorrhage, and other complications.

  • Manages orthopedic surgery services.  Formulates plans and procedures for orthopedic surgery services. Schedules operations and assigns surgeons, nurses, and medical technicians.
    Job Requirements:
     Education and Experience

  • PhD/Royal College/Fellowship/Membership in Orthopedics

  • Minimum 7 years post  Phd /Fellowship/Membership experience in relevant specialty
     
    Job-Specific/Technical Skills

  • Good communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Required Organizational practices/patient safety standards.

  • Command over professional code of ethics, medical bylaws.

  • Knowledge of evidence based Age specific/ Population specific patient care clinical guidelines accepted by the hospital.

  • Culturally competent (Kuwaiti patients’ culture and beliefs).

  • AHA certified Basic Life support provider.
