Responsibilities

  • End-to-end project leadership for data center build-out
  • Collaborate with local consultants to gather site requirements, review and vet mechanical, electrical, and architectural designs
  • Lead RFP process for power, cooling, rack/caging, network, security, and monitoring systems; select and manage vendors
  • Define network architecture and integrate with existing cloud
  • Architect and deploy high-performance storage and database clusters on bare-metal hardware
  • Develop migration plan from exsiting cloud to owned facilities
  • Implement neccessary security controls in accordance with financial regulations
  • Establish operational procedures: capacity planning, fleet management, incident response, DR/BCP
  • Create budgets, forecasts, and ROI models; monitor spend vs. cost-savings targets relative to current cloud spend
  • Mentor and coordinate with in-house engineers to hand off for ongoing operations

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 8+ years of data-center design & build experience, with at least two facilities delivered from 0→1

  • Deep expertise in:

    • Power distribution & UPS systems
    • Cooling
    • Racking, cable management, and airflow containment
    • Network backbone design
  • Hands-on experience with bare-metal server provisioning, virtualization (e.g. KVM, VMware)

  • Strong background in storage and database performance tuning (PostgreSQL, KDB)

  • Proven ability to manage budgets, vendor contracts, and project schedules

  • Excellent communication skills; able to translate between business, financial, and technical stakeholders

  • Willingness to travel to the local data centers when needed

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in financial services or hedge-fund infrastructure, especially colo infra
  • Familiarity with cloud-to-on-prem migrations and hybrid cloud networking
  • Fluency in English
