The Data Scientist plays a key role in enabling CDC to make informed, data driven decisions by transforming complex datasets into actionable insights. Working closely with operational, technology, sustainability, and corporate teams, the role applies advanced analytics, modelling, and visualisation to support strategic initiatives, improve business performance, and build scalable analytical capability across the organisation. The role balances hands on data science delivery with strong stakeholder engagement to ensure insights are practical, trusted, and aligned to CDC’s strategic priorities.
Other responsibilities include:
- Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform operational and strategic decision‑making.
- Design, develop, and maintain analytical models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support business planning and risk management.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, well‑governed, and fit for analytical use.
- Develop dashboards, visualisations, and reports that clearly communicate insights to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Support automation and scalability of data workflows using tools such as Python, R, SQL, and Power BI or equivalent platforms.
- Apply statistical, predictive, or machine learning techniques where appropriate to enhance insight generation and decision quality.
- Contribute to the uplift of data literacy across CDC by promoting best practices in analytics, modelling, and evidence‑based decision‑making.

- A candidate with strong foundations in statistics, data science, or analytics, and experience applying these skills in a commercial or operational environment.
