Velocio, part of the SRAM family, is a premium technical apparel brand built for cyclists who demand more. We design high-performance, sustainably minded apparel that keeps riders focused on the ride, not their gear. Our team operates with a startup mentality inside a world-class organization, holding ourselves to the highest creative and technical standards season after season.

Position Summary

As a Designer II at Velocio, you own the full creative and technical lifecycle of your product categories from initial brief to go-to-market handoff. This is a highly autonomous role requiring equal parts creative vision, technical rigor, and collaborative approach. You bring curiosity and a deep understanding of the cyclist's experience to every design decision, building innovative apparel that genuinely elevates performance on the bike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design and development of assigned product categories within the Velocio collection, from ideation through go-to-market
  • Translate athlete insights, trend research, and brand vision into innovative, performance-led apparel solutions considering materials, construction, fit, and aesthetics as a unified whole
  • Source fabrics, create tech packs, test and validate prototypes, and manage product development within PLM system
  • Drive prototyping, wear testing, and sample approval processes; partner closely with manufacturing teams on pattern development, construction, and fit
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and manufacturing partners, managing development timelines through regular communication and periodic on-site visits
  • Lead SMU, collaboration, and custom project development end-to-end
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging materials technologies, and competitor activity to continuously evolve the Velocio product range
  • Partner with marketing, sales, and content teams to align product timelines with go-to-market planning, and contribute to product education and photography
  • Collaborate with athletes and ambassadors to gather real-world performance feedback and integrate insights into future design iterations
  • Travel to suppliers, tradeshows, and events as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel/Textile Design or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in technical apparel design, ideally in performance cycling, technical outdoor, or activewear
  • Strong technical foundation in patterning, garment construction, and working with high-performance textiles and advanced materials
  • Deep creative ability paired with a structured, iterative approach to problem-solving
  • Experience with cost engineering to meet target cost and margin requirements
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office Suite; ability to build CADs, lay-flats, and print files; PLM system experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small-team environment
  • Keen eye for clean aesthetics and commitment to sustainable design practices in materials selection, durability, and circularity
  • Cyclist or passionate sports enthusiast who connects personally with the products they create
  • Ability to travel internationally to visit suppliers, manufacturing partners, and Velocio teams

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary starting at $90,000 CAD, with the potential of up to $130,000 CAD based on experience and skills
  • Eligible for an annual corporate bonus based on company and individual performance
