Job Description:-

1. Incoming Inspection & Verification

  • Perform incoming inspection of raw materials, bought‑out parts, machined components, and assemblies

  • Verify parts against:

    • Engineering drawings
    • Purchase order requirements
    • Customer specifications
    • Aerospace standards (AS/EN/ISO)
  • Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional inspections

  • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometre, vernier, height gauge, CMM reports, special gauges)


2. Documentation Review

  • Review and verify supplier documents such as:

    • Certificate of Conformance (CoC/CoA)
    • Material Test Reports (MTR)
    • Heat treatment certificates
    • Surface treatment and special process certificates
    • FAIR (First Article Inspection Report – AS9102)
  • Ensure traceability of material and parts (batch, lot, heat number)

  • Validate compliance with drawing revision and specification version


3. Non‑Conformance Control

  • Identify, document, and segregate Non‑Conforming Material (NCR)

  • Raise NCR / DR / MRB as per internal procedures

  • Coordinate with:

    • Supplier Quality
    • Engineering
    • Production
    • MRB team
  • Ensure proper disposition (Use‑As‑Is, Rework, Repair, Reject)


4. Supplier Coordination & Feedback

  • Communicate inspection findings and defects to suppliers
  • Support supplier corrective actions (SCAR)
  • Monitor repeat issues and supplier performance
  • Support supplier development initiatives where required

5. Quality System Compliance

  • Ensure incoming processes comply with:

    • Internal Quality Management System
    • Customer‑specific requirements (Boeing, Airbus, Safran, HAL, etc.)
  • Maintain inspection records as per retention and audit requirements

  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits


6. First Article Inspection (FAI) Support

  • Review and validate First Article Inspection Reports
  • Ensure 100% characteristic coverage per AS9102
  • Verify ballooned drawings and measurement results
  • Coordinate re‑FAI for drawing or process changes

7. Handling & Preservation

  • Verify correct:

    • Packaging
    • Identification
    • Labeling
    • Shelf‑life control
  • Ensure parts are protected from damage, contamination, and corrosion


8. Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze incoming rejection trends
  • Support process improvement initiatives
  • Participate in root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D)
  • Support reduction of incoming defects and inspection lead time

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Strong ability to read and interpret:

    • Engineering drawings
    • GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
    • Material and process specifications
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials:

    • Aluminum, Steel, Titanium, Composites
  • Understanding of special processes:

    • Heat treatment
    • Plating, anodizing, coating

Quality Knowledge

  • AS9100 Quality Management System
  • AS9102 First Article Inspection
  • Non‑conformance management
  • Traceability and configuration control

Soft Skills

  • Attention to detail
  • Strong documentation discipline
  • Analytical thinking
  • Clear communication with suppliers and internal teams
  • Ability to work under production pressure

Typical Qualifications

  • Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related discipline

  • 2–8 years experience in Aerospace Incoming Quality / Inspection

  • Certification in:

    • AS9100 (preferred)
    • GD&T (preferred)
    • Customers / Auditors
