About the Role

The Director of Human Resources is a key member of the hotel Executive Committee, accountable for ensuring that people strategy directly enables operational excellence, commercial performance, and brand standards in a luxury hotel environment. The role is positioned as a strategic business partner to the hotel business leaders, with a clear mandate to link workforce decisions to financial outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

Business & Commercial Alignment

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the General Manager and the hotel Executive Committee on organisational and people matters with direct commercial impact
  • Translate business strategy, budgets, and trading forecasts into effective workforce and capability plans
  • Partner closely with Finance on manpower planning, payroll governance, and labour cost optimisation

Labour Cost Discipline & Workforce Productivity

  • Maintain disciplined control of labour costs, headcount, and productivity aligned with occupancy and revenue mix
  • Drive efficiency through effective rostering, role design, and performance management without compromising guest experience

Leadership Capability & Talent Sustainability

  • Strengthen leadership capability through coaching, development and performance focus.
  • Build sustainable succession pipelines and promote internal mobility and career growth.

Governance, Risk & Employment Law

  • Ensure full compliance with UK employment legislation and company policies
  • Lead complex employee relations fairness, consistency, and sound judgement.
  • Protect the business from legal, reputational, and operational risk

Culture & Performance

  • Champion a high‑performance, accountable, and inclusive culture where accountability and care go hand in hand
  • Align engagement, reward, and development strategies to operational and commercial priorities
  • Foster an environment where colleagues feel respected, heard and motivated to deliver exceptional service.

 

About You

  • Proven experience at HR Director / senior HR level in luxury hospitality or complex service led environments
  • Strong credibility as an HR Business Partner
  • Expertise in UK employment law and employee relations
  • Demonstrated ability to link people strategy directly to financial and operational performance
