Director, Emergency Medical Svcs

- Overall managerial responsibility for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Medical Transport programs and responsibility for formulating processes with the development and implementation of technical policies and procedures.
- Ensures patient and caregiver safety in all areas of operations.
- Cooperates with Federal, State, and other local departments/agencies in search, rescue, and medical emergency situations.
- Directs and evaluates all clinical activities including care plan development, service level determination, and complaint management.
- Prepares budget and ensures compliance with allocated funding.
- Responds to emergency calls, taking command and control responsibilities as necessary.
- Responds to non-emergency calls to assist the public and other response agencies, taking appropriate action to minimize the loss of life and/or property.
- Oversee staffing issues to include recruitment, evaluations, discipline and/or coaching as necessary, education, training and certification, scheduling, and other areas of personnel management.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA laws and regulations.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations related to aspects of EMS.
- Maintain positive working relationships with hospitals, medical professionals and staff, law enforcement, public works, fire, and other agencies in Bradford County and surrounding areas.
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- Works in conjunction with other departments to work collaboratively in the updating and maintenance of Emergency Operations Plans for Guthrie locations and Bradford County.
- Attends seminars and training sessions as required by position.
- Reviews and updates department personnel job descriptions, including certification requirements and continuing education tracking for review by human resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
