Equinox VGM is currently inviting applications for an Electrician, Process Plant to join our growing team as the company ramps up mine operations and production.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Process Plant Electrical Supervisor, the Electrician is responsible for ensuring all electrical equipment and systems are operated and maintained in a safe and effective manner.
This position is located at the Project site, working on a 14 days in/14 days out rotation.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Repair and maintain mine equipment in compliance with workplace safety rules.
- Read, understand, and interpret prints.
- Maintain site electrical systems – high, medium and low voltage.
- Maintain substations and distribution systems.
- Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
- Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective part components.
- Perform preventive checks on equipment including process plants, crushers, pumps, conveyors, backup generators and other fixed plant equipment.
- Perform preventive checks for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, according to preventive maintenance plans.
- Inspect, examine, and test parts to recommend the extent and nature of the work.
- Test and adjust repaired systems for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer’s specifications and the functional needs of the operation.
- Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts and components of the equipment systems.
- Conduct final inspections to ensure that work detailed on work order has been completed to meet safety standards.
- Provide feedback improvement suggestions to the supervisor and planner and implement those approved and within your ability.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
- Journeyperson Industrial or Construction Electrician (Red Seal) Certification is required.
- A minimum of 3 years Journeyperson experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment is required.
- Experience working in a remote industrial environment is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license and a driver’s abstract required.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.
- Strong ability to work under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional ability to effectively deal with a variety of stakeholder requests and issues.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements at remote sites.
- Ability to mentor, coach, and train apprentices.
- Strong knowledge of the OHS, mining, and construction regulations.
- Knowledge of the repair and maintenance of fixed plant equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret prints.
- Flexibility regarding work activities and type of work requirements.
- The ability to work in a multi-discipline, multi-tasking, team environment.
- Strong computer skills with competence using Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to influence and inspire others and manage cross-functional relationships.
