You’ll gain experience across inspections, investigations, enforcement, town planning assessments, community engagement, projects and more - all while working in one of South East Queensland’s most beautiful regions. Your fieldwork will take you across the Redlands Coast, including island locations such as North Stradbroke Island and bayside suburbs like Wellington Point, Raby Bay and Victoria Point.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering environmental health functions across a broad and varied portfolio
- Conducting inspections, assessments and investigations in line with relevant legislation
- Providing advice, compliance and education to businesses, stakeholders and the community
- Contributing to enforcement actions and regulatory decision‑making
- Assessing environmental health components of development and town planning applications
- Participating in project work, events support and continuous improvement initiatives
- Working collaboratively within a supportive, high‑performing team.
Skills and experience:
- Qualifications suitable for appointment as an Environmental Health Officer
- Knowledge of legislation relevant to environmental health functions
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with a customer‑focused approach
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow professionally
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A passion for improving community health outcomes on the Redlands Coast

Eligibility:
- You'll have completed a university qualification accredited by Environmental Health Australia or equivalent, to be qualified as an Environmental Health Officer.
- You'll have a C Class Driver's Licence.
- You'll agree to be compliant with Redland City Council's Occupational Immunisation Procedure.
- Successful applicants will be asked to consent to a criminal history check. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically barred from applying for this position. Each application will be considered on its merits.
- To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
