Purpose
To operate rubber tire mobile equipment and support equipment in an active mining environment. All work must be completed in a safe and efficient manner while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Newmont values. Operate in a safe and efficient manner, causing the least wear and/or damage to the equipment and mine property and maintain the highest level of production possible.
The Equipment Operator II is an expert in all requirements of Grade 4B, can operate and support equipment proficiently and one (1) support equipment competent. The support equipment are: Dozer D10, Small Excavator and Grader.
Essential Duties
- Start and end timely
- Work without risk or harm to self and others
- Work under direction, ask questions when an instruction is not clear.
- Communicate and provide work status handovers to incoming Equipment Operator.
- Communicate with the Dispatcher regarding hazards encountered to provide sufficient information to the incoming Operators for the smooth running of Operations.
- Consistently exercise discretion and judgement in job performance.
- Meet or exceed targets on each machine operated.
- Can assess the hauling cycle and clearly understands in which part to identify issues and resolves it with the supervisor.
- Lead pre-start meetings and engage peers in risk, hazard identification and hazard management.
- Provide during work activities coaching to peers to reiterate safe operating procedures.
- Proficient dump construction, dump maintenance, level management and dilution control
Training & Experience
Knowledge:
- Middle School/ Technical Diploma/Trades Degree/ Specialized Technical Training Certificate.
- Have advance knowledge of mechanical systems and demonstrated ability to perform and document a thorough pre-operational inspection to evaluate mechanical condition of truck.
- Proficient safety knowledge of hauling, dump management and road maintenance SOP’s.
- Basic front-line leader knowledge.
Experience:
- Four (4) years’ experience working in a Mining Environment.
- Expert in operating 785 Haul truck
- Proficient in operating Dozer D10 / Small Excavator/Grader 16M
- Competent in operating Dozer D10 / Small Excavator/Grader 16M
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrate high level of accuracy with all work assignment.
- Ability to learn and detail oriented.
- Display good judgement and be pro-active with work assignments.
