The Role
Reporting to the Area Operations Supervisor, the purpose of this position is to operate an Open Cut MPU in a safe and efficient manner in order to provide a quality product for the purpose of blasting at the site. The MPU Operator will be responsible for the delivery of emulsion based explosives in alignment with the services supplied on site. And with a strong commitment to upskilling and progressing your career throughout the company, you'll be on the fast track to success.
We’re hiring across multiple sites in the North Bowen Basin, with opportunities for:
- Entry-level operators looking to break into mining until competent (starting from $90K)
- Experienced MPU Operators ready to step into high-performing crews (up to $134K+)
You’ll work a 7:7 roster (DIDO) with a strong focus on safety, team culture, and career progression. Nightshift may be required depending on site requirements.
What you will bring
It is essential that the successful candidate can demonstrate operational experience as a qualified MPU Operator or demonstrated equipment operation experience on an active blast bench as well as the following:
- You must be committed to positively contributing to our safe, inclusive and high-performance culture
- Qld HR Driver’s License (Essential) Open or B Condition
- Standard 11
- Qld Security Clearance Card
- Forklift (HRWL) Licence (desirable)
- RII Qualification in Mobile Mixing Explosives/RII Support Shotfirer (desirable)
- Excellent communication skills, supportive team member with a positive proactive attitude and flexibility to work across varying sites
- Good computer literacy, and aptitude to learn and use site specific software

The Site
The Bowen Basin, boasting Australia's largest coal reserves, is currently home to more than 40 operational coal mines, along with two gold mines and active gas fields. Additionally, numerous exploration and appraisal activities related to gas and coal are ongoing. The Collinsville vicinity is drained in a northward direction by the Bowen River, after which both the river and the basin were named, honoring Queensland's inaugural Governor, Sir George Bowen. Dyno presently provides down-the-hole services across several locations within the Bowen Basin.
This role could be placed at any of our Northern Bowen Basin sites, Coppabella Mine, Moorvale, Goonyella, Peak Downs, Saraji, and Daunia.
