Field Officer Parks and Conservation - North Stradbroke Island (200767) 

 

Permanent Full Time - 38 hours per week 

 

$72,380.99 to $73,246.16  Annually  + 13% super  

 

RCC Employee's Level 4 OR Level 5 (dependant on experience) including applicable allowances

Are you passionate about working outdoors and maintaining beautiful parks, conservation areas, roads and streetscapes? If so, we invite you to apply for the Field Officer – Parks and Conservation position at Redland City Council!

 

We would love to hear from candidates who hold a qualification in Horticulture, Arboriculture, Turf Management, Landscape Construction or Conservation and Land Management, Fire Management, however for those who are eager to develop their outdoor maintenance skills, Council is excited to provide the opportunity for the successful candidate to complete a Certificate III in Horticulture! 

 

This role is based on North Stradbroke Island and is a fantastic opportunity for North Stradbroke Island residents to secure permanent full time employment on the Island. The successful candidate will be required to travel to and from the Dunwich Depot in their own time.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Undertaking operational maintenance across parks, conservation areas, roadsides and streetscapes
  • Delivering high-quality work in an efficient, effective and timely manner
  • Performing skilled outdoor tasks across a range of environments
  • Supporting the presentation and upkeep of natural and community assets
  • Working collaboratively within a team to deliver positive outcomes for the community

 

 

Skills and experience:

 

  • Experience in a similar role or a strong interest in developing outdoor maintenance skills
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labouring tasks
  • Commitment to working safely and following health and safety procedures
  • A team-focused attitude with a passion for providing great service
  • Qualifications in Horticulture, Arboriculture, Turf Management, Landscape Construction, or Conservation and Land Management / Fire Management (desirable)
  • Willingness to learn and develop, with the opportunity to complete a Certificate III in Horticulture

Eligibility:

 

Level 4

 

  • You'll have a Current Class 'C' Drivers Licence.
  • You'll have availability to perform after hours work on an on-call and call-out basis.
  • To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.

 

Level 5 (in addition to the Level 4 eligibility above)

 

  • You will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in the relevant field or qualification.

  • You'll hold a qualification in any of the following:

    • TAFE Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent
    • TAFE Certificate III in Arboriculture
    • Landscape Construction including a playground Inspector – Level 2 Certificate
    • Conservation and Land Management, Fire Management or equivalent
