Job Summary:
Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, this position is responsible for leading the Corporate Finance & Accounting function for a newly established Corporate Office. The role will ensure compliance with Bechtel policies and local statutory requirements while supporting the setup of processes, controls, and reporting.
This position will have an initial scoped but is expected to evolve in parallel with business growth, increasing in complexity, transaction volume, and leadership responsibilities, supporting progression toward a high level.
Major Responsibilities:
- Leading Finance & Accounting activities for the Buenos Aires Corporate Office, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxes, cash management, and statutory reporting.
- Maintaining corporate and statutory accounting books ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Preparing financial statements, trial balances, and supporting schedules. Performing and overseeing monthly reconciliations, including corporate vs. statutory records.
- Managing cash flow and prepare forecasts in coordination with Santiago office Cash Management group.
- Ensuring timely and accurate tax filings and statutory submissions. Coordinating with project teams and functions to resolve accounting issues.
- Providing financial analysis and management reporting. Acting as the primary accounting interface for the Argentina Corporate Office.
- Contributing to the establishment of a strong control environment aligned with Bechtel standards.
- Supporting the design and improvement of accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting procedures.
- Supporting and progressively lead audits, tax inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Providing recommendations on complex accounting, tax, and compliance matters.
- Participating in system implementations and process standardization initiatives.
- Supporting scaling of the accounting function, including onboarding and supervision of staff.
- Contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requieres Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 7–10 years of relevant experience in accounting and statutory compliance.
- Professional certification (CPA or equivalent) or active Certified Public Accountant registration/licensure in the country of practice
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and financial statements.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in multinational or project-based environments. Knowledge of Argentina tax and statutory framework.
- Experience supporting audits and regulatory interactions. Experience in process improvements or system implementations.
- Potential to assume expanded leadership responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle).
- Fluency in Spanish and working proficiency in English.
- Demonstrate leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement. Communicate effectively across functions and geographies.
- Identify risks and propose solutions proactively. Ensure timely delivery and escalate issues early. Uphold Bechtel’s ethics and compliance standards.
