Position Summary:
Reporting to the Financial Clearance Manager/or Supervisor, the Financial Clearance Coordinator will be responsible for all administrative and financial components of financial clearance. Some of the financial components consist of pre-registration, insurance verification, pre-certification, and patient financial information. The position is also responsible for informing the patient/guarantor of all financial liabilities and documenting pertinent information into appropriate systems. The position requires integral communication with patients, insurance companies, department administrators, physicians, and other departmental staff to ensure the ideal patient experience.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology
- Knowledge of medical insurance plans and experience in insurance portals (Availity, CareFirst, Kaiser)
- Experience with insurance verifications, prior authorizations, and referrals
- Billing and coding experience a plus
Skills:
- Intermediate in Microsoft Office
- Requires excellent verbal, communication, telephone etiquette, interviewing, and interpersonal skills to interact with peers, superiors, patients, families, members of the healthcare team and external agencies.
- Requires intermediate analytical skills to resolve problems and provide patient and referring physicians with information and assistance with pre-registration and registration issues.
- Ability to perform with attention to detail and accuracy
Work Experience:
- 1-2 years related medical office, hospital, or similar customer service environment
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Licensure Certification
- Certification on host systems as appropriate. Certification to be obtained during introductory 90 day probationary period
- Successful completion of departmental training program and all related competency assessments.
- Coding Certification is a plus
Salary Range: Minimum 20.52/hour - Maximum 33.88/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
