Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Group Corporate Accounting team in the capacity of:

 

 

 

Fixed Asset & Tax Filing Officer (Contract)

 

 

Maintain and provide accounting support to the Fixed Asset and Taxation Unit primarily to the general ledger postings by ensuring proper recording in each entity’s financial statement.

 

Reconciliation of assigned entities’ tax accounts to meet the tax filings and settlement deadline.

 

 

Location: Kingston

 

As a Fixed Asset & Tax Filing Officer you will:

 

  • Play a major role in the accounting for fixed asset purchases to maintain timely processing of fixed assets acquired.
  • Report any inconsistent and missing requisite documents Resources’ signature and coordinate with Accounts Payables and other departments for resolution of issues relating to capitalizing of items.
  • Create asset records templates for upload in SUN System as assigned by Unit Manager.
  • Prepare and input journal entries, complete templates and cost allocations worksheets where necessary to support those costs relating to capitalizations with various allocations for review and sign-off.
  • Maintain electronic support document files for each entity ensuring that all requisite documents are in place and comply with department standards.
  • Provide support with the updating of reports and disclosures worksheets - monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Prepare fixed asset schedules by asset type for each entity as assigned to satisfy the Annual Insurance renewal.
  • Work closely with Fixed Asset team and budget team to compile and produce capital expenditure schedules for forecasted, budgeted and projected depreciation charges for entities as assigned.
  • Prepare PPE schedules for assigned entities to satisfy the external annual audit request.
  • Reconcile small tax ledger accounts as assigned for Withholding Tax on Specified Services, Contractor’s Levy and Withholding Tax - Non-Resident.
  • Prepare complete and accurate journal entries to reimburse corporate credit cards used to pay TAJ for GCT and withholding tax liabilities for all entities.
  • Upload all GCT and withholding tax payments receipts and returns based on assignment to the BWISE Portal.
  • Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

 

What do you need?

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Management Studies or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting requirements.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in an accounting position.
  • Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to produce quality reports in a timely manner.
