Full time Courtesy Clerk

Safeway Canmore is seeking a part time or full time Courtesy Clerk to join our Front End Department, packing customers groceries', putting back return merchandise, collecting hand baskets and shopping carts, wet cleanups and general sanitation and upkeep of sales floor and restrooms; The candidate will be provided training and be offered a rewarding career opportunity for progression as well as a competitive starting wage rate. A day in the life of a Courtesy Clerk: 

As a customer yourself, you know how important it is that checkout service is fast, accurate, and friendly. The impression shoppers get at the front end of the store is key to building customer loyalty. That is why Courtesy Clerks bagging and taking groceries to customers’ cars play such an important role in the success of our stores. Experience is not necessary and training is provided.

• No previous experienced required

Key Responsibilities 

• Upholds and complies with company procedures, standards and policies in all situations
• Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner
• Demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with Safeway’s programs
• Wrap and place merchandise in bags / carts
• Ensuring cleanliness of the store’s front end
• Collecting and returning shopping carts
• Returning store product
• Grocery carry outs for customers
• Sweeping floors
• Price checks as required

• Ability to learn quickly
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Highly motivated and team oriented
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form
• Possess strong customer service qualities
• Works in a safe and responsible manner
• Available to work flexible hours
• Evening and weekend availability is strongly encouraged
• Must be available to be scheduled anytime on Sunday (Alberta Only)

Physical Requirements 

• (Seldom: Not Daily, Rare: 0-5% of shift, Occasional: 6-33% of shift, Frequent: 34-66% of shift, Constant: 66-100% of shift)
• Frequent lifting of up to 10-30 pounds
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs including waist level and low level lifts
• Constant walking, reaching and balancing
• Frequent hand coordination, standing, bending, pushing or pulling
• Occasionally working outside in variable conditions
