ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking experienced Fishing Guides to join the Outback Spirit team at one of our remote Arnhem Land lodges.

This is a guest-focused role where your primary purpose is to deliver safe, engaging and memorable fishing experiences. While fishing expertise is essential, success in this role comes from your ability to connect with guests, tailor experiences to all skill levels, and share your knowledge of the region, its waterways and wildlife.

You’ll lead either blue water or estuary fishing tours, working with a diverse range of guests including first-time anglers, experienced repeat visitors, corporate groups and high-end clientele. Above all, we’re looking for guides who put the guest experience first, rather than their own fishing agenda.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome guests and set the tone for an exceptional experience
  • Lead safe, informative and engaging fishing tours for guests of all abilities
  • Share expert knowledge of blue water or estuary fishing, local conditions, tides and seasonal patterns
  • Educate guests on local wildlife, ecosystems and the unique beauty of Arnhem Land
  • Ensure guest safety at all times, including correct use of fishing equipment
  • Respond to emergencies and administer first aid if required
  • Prepare, maintain and store fishing equipment, ensuring all gear is clean, safe and operational
  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of vessels
  • Assist with lodge operations and general duties during non-fishing periods

Employment Types & Seasonality:

  • Full-time positions: April – October, with the opportunity to work during the Build-up and Run-off seasons if preferred.
  • Casual positions: Available during the Run-off (February – April) and Build-up (October – end of November) seasons.

  • Strong knowledge of NT tidal movements and local fishing conditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A calm, safety-focused approach with the ability to act decisively in emergencies

You MUST hold the below licences:

  • Coxswains ticket.
  • Approved NT Operators Licence, or willingness to obtain

REMOTE LIVING:

All Lodges and Camps are located in some of Australia’s most remote regions. Many are accessible only by air, with staff flown from Darwin via our private aviation network. You will live and work onsite for the duration of the season, with limited connectivity and access to towns.

While remote living presents challenges, it offers a rare opportunity to disconnect, immerse yourself in nature, and experience Australia’s landscapes in a deeply rewarding way.
