About the Role

We are looking for a Fullstack Software Developer with a focus on backend development, strong architectural understanding, and a genuine interest in applying AI-driven approaches to modern software development.

You will join the team responsible for building and maintaining Orchestra — the core platform behind Qmatic’s customer journey management solutions. This is a foundational system that powers both customer-facing and staff-facing applications used to orchestrate and manage customer journeys at scale.

Our current Orchestra platform is primarily built in Java, using a combination of Spring, Spring Boot, and Java EE.  It supports multiple relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server, and is deployed across both on-premises and hosted environments. For customers with higher resilience or latency requirements, we also operate distributed deployments of core services.

As part of Qmatic’s next growth phase, the team is focused on modernizing the platform into a next-generation foundation for customer journeys management. This includes evolving the architecture, improving scalability and maintainability, and introducing AI-assisted engineering practices to improve development efficiency, system quality, and time-to-market.

We are looking for engineers who have worked on backend systems where changes are not trivial, and where decisions need to balance performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive development work of a core platform/APIs with the focus on enabling others to build and deploy applications, integrations with other systems.

  • Continuously design, develop and deploy services focusing on high availability, excellent quality, low latency, and performance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues (third-line support)

  • Improve system performance, reliability, and security

  • Integrate AI/ML capabilities into products and workflows

Required Qualifications

  • Experience building and maintaining scalable and complex backend systems, understanding of service-oriented and distributed architectures
  • Strong experience with designing and maintaining APIs, SQL databases in various environments
  • Fluency in multiple programming languages, primarily Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python
  • Experience of working with on-prem and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
  • Experience with AI development tools (e.g. Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot)
  • Exposure to modern AI engineering workflows (e.g. agents, automation, tool integrations)
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, DevOps practices and cloud services is considered meritorious but not critical
  • Ability to work from high-level architecture design down to efficient code
  • Curious mindset to solve problems, strong team mentality & high sense of accountability
  • Ability to take the initiative and collaborate across teams
  • Relevant education or experience
  • Fluent in writing and speaking English. Swedish is a plus
