This position is a IBEW 319 position and will be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Should it not be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, external candidates will be considered.
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Foreman, this position involves manual labour and providing trades with tools, material and equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides tools, materials and equipment, as required by the tradesperson.
- Assists with digging holes, erecting poles, setting transformers and pedestals and assembling and installing line material on underground and overhead systems.
- Assists with stringing guy wires.
- Assists with laying cables and stringing conductors.
- Assists with dismantling material for salvage.
- Assists Machine Operator and Bucket Truck Operator to keep truck stocked with equipment and materials.
- Loads and unloads equipment and materials, as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 education.
- One year’s experience in related electric utility work.
- Possession of, or ability to successfully complete within 6 months after date of hire, a valid Saskatchewan Class 1A Driver’s Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Knowledge of materials, tools and equipment of the line trade.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned duties outdoors in various weather conditions.
Weekly Hours: 37.33
Salary Range: $28.15 to $31.02 CAD per hour (2023 rates)
