Phu Bia Mining Limited is a Lao-registered company, 90 per cent owned by PanAust, an Australian-headquartered copper and gold mining company, with the Government of Laos owning the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off; 9 days on, 5 days off; or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.

Reporting to the HSE Training Supervisor, you will be responsible for assisting the HSE training supervisor on developing all generic occupational health and safety training. This includes planning, scheduling, and delivering all generic safety training across the operation.  

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Deliver the PBM Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Training, Inductions (General Safety, Mining, Process, Underground inductions), Isolations, Permit to Work, Confined Space, Confined Space Standby and Safety Leadership training programs to employees and contractors for PBM operations at various locations.
  • Assist HSE training team to review and develop related HSE training courses and materials.
  • Assist with the development of online training courses and assessments.
  • Manage training records.
  • Conduct workplace inspections
  • Translate training materials to Lao
  • Develop videos content for HSE training purposes
  • Facilitate and run VR training programs related to HSE

 

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A higher diploma or bachelor's degree is desirable.
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in training, teaching, or a related learning and development role.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Lao and English; Mandarin language skills would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles, basic safety principles, and basic mining concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to engage learners effectively.
  • Good time management, organizational, and planning skills, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint), with experience in video production and training management systems considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrates a practical, hands-on approach to training and problem-solving.
  • Willingness to travel and work across different site locations.
