Heat Treat. & Finishing Shift Leader - Koppel, PA
LOCATION: Koppel - Pennsylvania - USA
DEPARTMENT: INDUSTRIAL OPERATIONS
Purpose
Lead and supervise heat treatment operations during the assigned shift within the Quench and Temper (Q&T) area. Ensure heat treatment processes are executed safely and consistently to achieve required mechanical properties and product specifications. Coordinate personnel, equipment, and process controls to maintain stable production and compliance with quality and safety standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Supervise shift operations of Q&T heat treatment processes, ensuring achievement of required mechanical properties.
- Monitor and control critical heat treatment parameters and process conditions to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Ensure proper use and calibration of standard (reference) pipes for inspection systems linked to heat treatment quality verification.
- Oversee semi‑automatic inspection processes and ensure manual evaluation is performed when results exceed established limits.
- Control compliance with operating procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements; identify deviations and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor production indicators related to heat treatment performance, downtime, and rejections; prioritize actions to stabilize operations and reduce losses.
- Enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures and participate in inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Lead, coach, and manage shift personnel in line with Human Resources policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
- Supervisory experience in manufacturing or production environments, with strong exposure to heat treatment operations.
- Working knowledge of API 5CT, API Q1, ISO 9001, and ISO 20431.
- Lean / Continuous Improvement exposure (root cause analysis, 5‑Why, downtime reduction, standard work).
- Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); pipe manufacturing experience is a strong plus.
- Ability to lead under high‑stress, shift‑based operations, prioritize tasks, and focus resources effectively.
- Availability to work in a rotational schedule (operations running through 3 shifts Monday to Friday, ocassional Saturdays)
