Job Purpose
Preparation and execution of a broad range of accounting assignments in the field of (pension and HR) accounting:
- Prepare and analyze consolidated pension reporting
- Maintain the AkzoNobel accounting manual
- Review finance income and expense on consolidated level
Key Activities
Pensions
- Monthly pension accounting in cooperation with the Pension Controller of Pensions department.
- Liaise with actuary WTW on AkzoNobel requirements for completion of the FAStrack database (with all actuarial report data) and upload into HFM
- Completion of figures for annual pension disclosure notes
Accounting manual maintenance
- Develop clear and directive accounting policies and treatments including implementation of new IFRS standards into accounting manual
- Develop clear and directive accounting treatments, taking into account topics from recent practice from inside AkzoNobel and topics highlighted in external sources / discussions
- Manage, develop and maintain instructive and directive accounting manual
- Manage the AkzoNobel Standard Chart of Accounts (SCoA)
Interest and other responsibilities
- Review finance income and expense on consolidated level
- Liaise with Treasury accountant and internally on top over insurance adjustment
Experience
- This job requires an experienced accountant (8-10 years) with expertise in the area of IFRS and/or US GAAP
- Knowledge of pension accounting (IAS 19 and/or ASC 712/715) is required
- A solid financial background is necessary in order to be able to monitor and handle complex pension accounting issues
- Good communication skills are also required for many contacts with staff at all levels of accounting, pension other corporate departments.
- The Code of Insider Trading is applicable to this job. The job requires observing high ethical standards.
- Perform accounting on University level by education or experience
- Extensive experience in accounting and reporting
- Well informed on IFRS standards
- Knowledge of consolidation/reporting is an advantage
- Flexible hands-on self-starter/problem solver
- Committed to deliver high quality output
- Able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Accurate, strict, risk oriented
