Overall Purpose of the Job

We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused Junior Buyer to join our Oil & Gas operations. Supporting a fast-paced and highly regulated environment, you will play a key role in sourcing and procuring materials and services critical to project and operational delivery.

This position requires an understanding of supply chain processes within the Oil & Gas sector, ensuring goods and services are obtained to strict technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines, while maintaining cost efficiency.

Key Activities and Accountabilities

  • Source competitive bids from approved and qualified suppliers in line with technical specifications, industry standards, budget, and project schedules
  • Assist with RFQs (Requests for Quotation) and supplier bid evaluations for equipment, materials, and services
  • Create and negotiate Purchase Orders, ensuring vendor compliance with delivery schedules and contractual requirements
  • Expedite orders and proactively manage supplier performance to minimise delays to offshore/onshore operations
  • Work closely with QA/QC teams to manage vendor non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and closed out promptly
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to support cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement
  • Coordinate rental equipment and service requirements to support operational and maintenance activities
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders including Engineering, Operations, and Finance to ensure procurement activities align with project needs
  • Support Accounts with invoice queries, approvals, and SAP updates, particularly for service-based and rental contracts
  • Assist in supplier audits, performance reviews, and pre-qualification processes in line with industry and company standards

Job Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Previous experience in procurement, preferably within Oil & Gas, energy, or a related industrial sector
  • Familiarity with Oil & Gas equipment, materials, and service procurement processes is advantageous
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Understanding of QA/QC processes and supplier compliance within a regulated industry
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
