Job Overview

The LCA Specialist will support the integration of LCA methodology into product development, sustaining engineering, customer response processe and strategic product decisions. The role will work closely with Engineering, Product Management, Procurement, Operations, Product Environmental Compliance, Sustainability, Commercial and external software or data providers to ensure that ADM can assess, understand and reduce the environmental impacts of its products. 

Your new role:

  • Lead and support Life Cycle Assessment activities for ADM products, materials and product families.
  • Develop Product Carbon Footprints and LCA studies in line with relevant standards including ISO 14040, ISO 14044, ISO 14067, GHG Protocol and other applicable customer or regulatory requirements.
  • Support the integration of LCA and product carbon considerations into the New Product Development process and sustaining engineering projects.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product Management teams to identify carbon reduction opportunities through material selection, design optimisation, manufacturing process improvements, supplier engagement and lifecycle considerations.
  • Source, review, align and validate product, material, supplier, manufacturing and logistics data required for LCA and Product Carbon Footprint calculations.
  • Support the development and implementation of LCA software, tools, models, templates and guidance materials for ADM.
  • Build and maintain scalable LCA models that can be used across product platforms and material groups.
  • Translate complex LCA findings into clear business insights, customer responses and recommendations for cross-functional teams.
  • Support customer sustainability requests including product carbon footprint data, LCA methodology explanations and evidence-based sustainability claims.
  • Work with Procurement and suppliers to improve the availability and quality of primary emissions and material data.
  • Support Design for Sustainability initiatives by providing data-driven insights on carbon impact, material choices, circularity, recyclability and environmental trade-offs.
  • Contribute to the review and selection of LCA software solutions and external data providers.
  • Develop internal training and awareness materials to improve LCA understanding across ADM and wider TE teams.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving LCA, product carbon, sustainability and regulatory expectations affecting ADM products and customers.
  • Ensure LCA outputs are robust, transparent and suitable for internal decision-making, customer engagement and future reporting needs

Your ideal background:

  • 3–5 years' experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Product Carbon Footprinting, Product Sustainability or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of LCA methodologies and standards including ISO 14040, ISO 14044, ISO 14067 and the GHG Protocol.
  • Experience using LCA/carbon modelling software and lifecycle inventory databases.
  • Ability to analyse complex product, material, BOM, supplier, manufacturing and emissions data, including data gaps, assumptions and uncertainty.
  • Experience delivering product carbon footprint assessments, customer sustainability requests and environmental product evaluations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical sustainability information into practical business insights.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across Engineering, Product Management, Procurement, Operations, Compliance, Sustainability and Commercial functions.
  • Good understanding of product development processes and integrating sustainability into design and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of eco-design, circularity, low-carbon materials, product decarbonisation, supplier emissions data and environmental compliance requirements (e.g. REACH, RoHS and PFAS).
  • Experience within manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, electronics, industrial products, materials or similar sectors.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI and/or Python.
