Description

Laboratory Technician in the Performance Films R&D Technology group located in Shanghai for Eastman Chemical Company. The position will have responsibility for supporting applications and product development scientists that innovate in the automotive and architectural markets. The focus applications will be in window films and paint protection films. Candidate must be flexible, proactive, and professional and should be able to communicate effectively and function in an innovative, fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.

Laboratory Technician position in the Performance Films R&D Technology group responsibilities:

1.           Product Development: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and improve new products, formulations, or applications based on customer requirements and market trends.

2.           Testing and Analysis: Conducting laboratory experiments and tests to evaluate the performance, quality, and properties of materials, products, or formulations.

3.           Process Optimization: Identifying opportunities to optimize manufacturing processes, such as formulation, mixing, coating, or application techniques, to enhance product performance and efficiency.

4.           Troubleshooting: Investigating and resolving technical issues related to product performance, application methods, or customer inquiries to ensure customer satisfaction.

5.           Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyzing and interpreting experimental data, generating reports, and communicating findings to cross-functional teams, management, or customers.

6.           Technical Support: Providing technical assistance and support to customers, sales teams, or manufacturing teams regarding product applications, troubleshooting, or process optimization.

7.           Safety and Compliance: Ensuring compliance with safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality standards during product development and testing activities.

8.           Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of experiments, formulations, test results, and other relevant documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures.

9.           Continuous Learning and Development: Staying updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and scientific advancements through training programs, conferences, and self-directed learning.

10.         Collaboration: Collaborating with internal teams, such as research scientists, engineers, marketing, and sales, to support product development projects and address customer needs effectively.

Candidate will be expected to develop hands-on and in-depth technical expertise with a variety of laboratory techniques and equipment.  Must work safely and promote a safe work environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in chemistry​
  • Please upload transcripts as proof of degree (in the “Additional Documents” section of the application)
  • CNAS/ISO certified lab work experience is preferred but not necessary
  • Formal training in general laboratory procedures.
  • Problem solving, math and science skills and familiarity with statistical methodology.
  • Initiative and the ability to work in a team setting. Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential.
  • General computer experience with relevant and Microsoft software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
